Peter, Sara, Diane and I had a wonderful evening a couple of weeks ago.
Diane decided to take us on a mystery ride that ended in a delightful, charming and ethnically marvelous restaurant in downtown Fall River, Patti’s’ Pierogis; a gem tucked away in a lovely neighborhood.
Diane and I had been there before to sample Patti’s splendid Polish cooking and knew we had to get there again. To surprise Peter and Sara added to the value.
The smells were most alluring as we opened the door to a warm, colorful Polish décor of dolls, plates, a vintage ice box, a colorful accordion and even a suggestion box for a pierogi you may want Patti to cook.
The atmosphere and the staff were warm, welcoming and informative (Thank you, Joni), but it was the robust menu: pierogis from around the world…stuffed with almost anything you wanted… yes, we had them.
Patti’s own polska kielbasa…yes, we ate it.
Golumbkis… yes, we had them.
Golabki… yes, we ate it.
It was a full house of great Polish food, including the beer. Patti came from the kitchen to be sure we were pleased (that was an easy answer).
The place, the food, the conversation… many memories of the past, present, sports, travel and more… but not politics…was entertaining and made the evening too short.
Peter was on his game; displaying his remarkable ability to see the humor in everyday situations and tell the story as it was.
Good food, good company and a mystery ride all rolled into one. What a wonderful evening of just plain fun.
