A Memorable Dining Experience in Serino, Italy

We had been to La Tavernetta di Marinella twice before. We were pleased that the proprietor, Giovanni Romano, recognized us.

Giovanni

We asked for a menu. “No menu,” he replied. “I will take care of you.”

“Uh, oh,” I thought.
I was wrong to be hesitant. He did. And very well indeed.

Suffice it to say that the antipasti, the pastas and the meats were outstanding, just as we remembered.
When we were done, he asked if we wanted dessert.
“No, No, we could not eat another thing.”

“Faccio io,” he replied, and take care of us he did.

He brought us plate of chestnuts, walnuts, peanuts and apricots … carved out and filled with their respective gelati … chestnut, walnut, peanut and apricot that he had frozen.

We savored the flavors that melted in our mouths.

Here they are!

We ate more. How could we not?

Verdict: Delicious, Memorable.

Another outstanding dining experience in Italy. Thank you, Giovanni.

Wow, this is my grandmother’s hometown! I have spent many summers in san michele di serino and was there this past summer. How did you find san michele?

Wow, incredible, Vinnie. We were staying at the Hotel Serino some years ago because we knew the proprietor. As we traveled about, we simply stumbled upon this borgo and great restaurant. As you can see, we loved it so have been three times over the years. As for San Michele … such a beautiful little, cozy borgo.
Lucky you to know it so well and to have the wonderful connections.
      Thanks for letting me know.
